The Story of Noor

When I first came to AWT, I carried so much pain, doubt, and brokenness. I believed the lies that my worth depended on what others said about me, and I felt small and unseen. But little by little, through the lessons, the prayers, the laughter, and even the simple times of sitting together, God began to change the way I saw myself. I still remember the first time I dared to pray out loud in a group, I was trembling, but I felt a wave of peace wash over me. For the first time, I knew I truly belonged.

I carried what I learned back to my church, where I began to share in meetings, small groups, and even in casual gatherings. Sometimes it was through Bible studies, other times through the joy of games, shared meals, or simply listening to someone’s story. It wasn’t just knowledge I had received; it was life. And this life overflowed beyond me, touching the women and girls around me. Soon, I was mentoring a few younger girls, helping them to discover their gifts and reminding them of their worth in Christ.

Today, I serve among Syrian refugees in Mafraq, and I feel deeply equipped for this calling. I visit homes where women sit in silence, weighed down by grief and poverty. I recognize the heaviness in their eyes, because I once carried it too. I understand the void they feel, and by God’s grace, I can now offer them the same love of Christ that once healed me. I’ve sat with mothers who lost everything, held their hands as they wept, and prayed with them until hope broke through their tears.

It is my greatest joy to look into the eyes of a woman who has been told by society, religion, and even the men around her that she is worthless, and to tell her that in Christ, she is seen, loved, and valuable. Many have accepted this truth, and I have watched God transform their lives with His peace, joy, and healing. I have seen tears of despair turn into tears of hope. I have heard women raise their voices in prayer for the very first time. Truly, the Lord is working wonders, and the prayers of many are bearing fruit in ways I never imagined.

AWT team, thank you from the bottom of my heart. You were God’s instrument in lifting me out of despair and setting my feet on a new path. May the Lord expand your reach and strengthen you to continue being a genuine source of hope and blessing for Arab women. Because of your obedience and faithfulness, countless lives, mine included, are forever changed.
